MRP Solutions opens new headquarters, innovation center

Aug 10, 2023

Injection molder MRP Solutions has opened a new innovation center and corporate office near Chicago.

The packaging company, which makes plastic closures, caps, lids and jars, hosted customers and suppliers to officially open the site in Lake Forest, Ill.

"Our mission is to recognize that industry trends continuously change, and customer needs are always evolving," CEO Jim Fitzgerald said in a blog post on the company's website.

"This innovation center will foster the MRP consultative approach to uncovering customer needs, while implementing its strategy to expand capabilities and customize smarter, safer, and more flexible packaging solutions that reduce cost and increase speed to market," he said.

The company officially calls the facility the MRP Solutions Center. "This new Solutions Center is a space where collaboration can spark innovation and create solutions to even the biggest packaging challenges," the CEO said.

A recent grand opening event included educational sessions put on by the company as well as a showcase featuring suppliers to MRP Solutions, including Tekni-Plex Consumer Products, Selig Group, Enercon Industries Corp. and Badger Color Concentrates, the company said. There also was a panel discussion on sustainability.

MRP Solutions was previously known as Mold-Rite Packaging until a rebranding in 2022.

"The decision to rebrand the company came with a decision to recommit ourselves to an industry that we know is going through a dynamic time," Fitzgerald said in a video released by the company at the time.

"We evaluated options we knew would capture the essence of not only who we were and who we are but who we know we need to be going forward," he said then.

MRP Solutions' markets include nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, personal care, home care and automotive.

The company has manufacturing sites in Plattsburg, N.Y.; Somerset, N.J.; and Twinsburg, Ohio.

MRP Solutions revealed plans in 2022 to expand the Twinsburg facility by 33,600 feet, creating additional space to eventually add 12 to 15 injection molding machines over time, the company previously said.

MRP Solutions was purchased in 2021 by private equity firm Clearlake Capital Group LP. Clearlake also owns blow molder Pretium Packaging LLC and just recently took tape, film and packaging maker Intertape Polymer Group Inc. private.

MRP Solutions is No. 49 in the most recent Plastics News ranking of injection molders in North America with annual sales of $200 million.
